šŸ§³ Counterclockwise at sea & getting cheaper prices

One for the bucket list

šŸ‘‹ Your Friday travel dispatch is here! This week we have:

1. A conference cruise from Canada to Japan
2. A reason to download the app for a travel industry giant

Anyone who has seen ā€œThe Proposalā€ should know what Sitka, Alaska looks likeā€¦

Counterclockwise at sea

What: The Transpacific Nomad Cruise, gathers more than 300 digital nomads and remote workers for a unique nomad summit at sea.

Why: Combining conference learning and networking with a cruise holiday featuring stops on the Pacific coast sounds pretty compelling.
Where: Canada - Alaska - Japan
Duration: 13 days
When: September 29 - October 13, 2024
Price: Starting at ā‚¬2000

What catches our eye:

  • Unique route with departure from Vancouver and stops in Sitka and Kodiak in Alaska, and Kushiro and Yokohama in Japan.

  • A jam-packed schedule with workshops, talks, entertainment nd networking.

  • A milestone you can claim in ā€˜funny facts about meā€™ battles (I crossed the Pacific Ocean!)

  • Bonus: did you like the movie ā€œThe Proposalā€? Go and experience parts of it for yourself.

Dear app, please give me lower prices

What: Booking.com, requires no introduction, but did you know on their app (and sometimes on mobile browsers) you can get lower prices?

Why: Because we need to learn to game the system to keep our costs low.
Price: Free; simply sign in if you have an account (which we recommend, especially with the Genius program offering significant discounts).

What catches our eye: Offers (freebies, not just prices) might differ between web and mobile, so itā€™s wise to check both carefully. Prices can sometimes be significantly lower on the app, and the experience of managing your bookings is much better as well.

Question for you: Does anyone have recommendations for Madeira, Portugal? Any hidden gems are welcome!

See you next week,
